Abdulfattah Doula the head of the media committee of the Freedom and Dignity hunger strike said on Saturday that 100 prisoners from Megiddo prison joined the mass hunger strike waged by about 1600 prisoners in Israeli jails.
During an interview with the Voice of Prisoners radio Doula added that a state of anxiety and anticipation prevailed among the prisoners who have been on hunger strike for 13 days in a row and who are subjected to repeated repression.
Doula affirmed that the Israel Prison Service still prevents lawyers from visiting the striking prisoners pointing out that the prisoners’ health conditions started to deteriorate and they began to suffer from headaches permanent dizziness and pain in the joints.
He noted that a number of prisoners in Ayalon prison stopped drinking water four days ago which poses a greater threat to their lives calling for more support for the prisoners in their battle to shorten the duration of the hunger strike and help them achieve their demands.
