11 Palestinians injured as IOF quells night border protest

Sunday 29-August-2021

11 Palestinian citizens on Saturday night suffered injuries when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) attacked a border protest in the east of Gaza City.

According to the health ministry in Gaza three of those wounded were hit by live ammunition and are in moderate condition. The other eight are said to have been lightly hurt from rubber bullets or stun and tear gas grenades.

Many others and journalists also suffered from their exposure to tear gas fumes.

Local sources said that dozens of young men rallied in al-Malika area east of Gaza City and staged a night protest near the border fence.

During the events the protesters torched several tires launched balloon-borne incendiaries towards Israeli areas and hurled stones at soldiers behind the fence.

Eyewitnesses said that the IOF fired flares over the area and used quadcopters to shower the protesters with tear gas canisters.

Organizers of the night confusion rallies in Gaza already warned that Israel’s ongoing siege on Gaza would prompt them to fly more balloons and kites carrying incendiaries and explosive devices towards settler communities around Gaza.
