11 administrative detainees continue hunger strike in Israeli jails

11 Palestinian prisoners have been on open-ended hungerstrike for several days in protest at their detention administratively with noindictments or trials.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) onTuesday the longest hunger-striking prisoners are Mohamed az-Zagheer and SalemZaidat both from al-Khalil and they have entered day nine of their hungerstrike.

Other prisoners are Mohamed A’amar and Mujahed Hamed both onhunger strike for seven days.

Five others have been on hunger strike for six days. They areKayed and Mahmoud al-Fasfous (brothers) Ra’fat al-Darawish Jivara an-Nammouraand Muayyad al-Khatib

PPS also said that prisoners Nidhal Khalaf and al-Muntaser BillahAbu Azum started their hunger strike a few days ago.

Administrative detention is incarceration without trial orcharge and is widely used by Israel against the Palestinians solely at thepretext that a person plans to commit a future offense. It has no time limitand it is based on alleged secret files.
