11 corona deaths 4095 new cases in Palestine within 24 hours

The Palestinian health ministry reported on Tuesday 11 new deaths associated with COVID-19 (coronavirus) 4095 new positive tests and 543 recoveries in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip during the last 24 hours.

According to the ministry’s daily report seven of the victims who died of the virus are from the West Bank and four others from Gaza.

Moreover 58 critically ill COVID-19 patients are being treated in intensive care units and 23 of them have been placed on ventilators.

An additional 96 patients are also receiving medical care in hospitals and special COVID-19 treatment centers in the West Bank.

95.3 percent of the total cases have recovered from the disease while the rate of active cases has reached 3.7 percent and the rate of deaths is 1.0 percent of the total cases according to data updated today by the ministry.

In a related context Palestinian health minister Mai al-Kaila said that the current corona wave could reach a new peak next month according to the epidemiological statistics and estimates in Palestine.

Kaila told the official Palestine Radio station on Tuesday that “the epidemic curve in Palestine is going up” and that “most of the cases are of the rapidly spreading omicron variant” expressing her concern over the growing numbers of positive tests in the West Bank and Gaza.

She pointed out that the number of omicron cases in the West Bank climbed to 698 patients adding that the omicron symptoms are mild among children and vaccinated people.
