Mai Al-Kailah the Palestinian Minister of Health announced on Friday that 12 deaths 494 new infections of the coronavirus and 792 recoveries were recorded in the West Bank and Gaza after conducting 4228 examinations in the last 24 hours.
Kailah confirmed in the daily epidemiological report of coronavirus that 8 deaths were recorded in the West Bank as follows: the suburbs of Jerusalem 1 Ramallah and Al-Bireh 2 Bethlehem 1 al-Khalil 1 Jenin 3 in addition to 4 deaths in the Gaza Strip.
She stated that the new cases were distributed according to the following: Salfit 16 the suburbs of Jerusalem 20 Tubas 21 Jericho and Al-Aghwar 8 Tulkarem 26 Ramallah and Al-Bireh 45 Bethlehem 19 al-Khalil 22 Nablus 23 Jenin 17 Qalqilya 2 and the Gaza Strip 275.
The new recoveries were recorded as follows: Salfit 29 Tubas 8 Jericho and Al-Aghwar 2 Tulkarem 36 Ramallah and Al-Bireh 51 Bethlehem 22 al-Khalil 34 Nablus 48 Jenin 41 Qalqilya 26 and the Gaza Strip 495 the minister added.
She noted that the recovery rate of coronavirus reached 93.1 percent while the rate of active infections reached 5.8 percent and the death rate was 1.1% of all infections.
Kailah pointed out that there are 77 critically ill patients who have been admitted to intensive care units including 22 who have been placed on ventilators.
Meanwhile the Prisoners and Ex-prisoners Affairs Authority said on Thursday that the elderly Palestinian prisoner Major General Fouad Al-Shobaki 82 was infected with the coronavirus.
The Authority stated in a statement that the prisoner Shobaki was infected with the coronavirus after mixing with a jailer who was driving the Busta vehicle to transport him to an Israeli hospital to undergo surgery in his eyes.
It explained that the prison administration transferred Shobaki to quarantine in another prison.
Shobaki who is from Gaza Strip is the oldest of the Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli occupation prisons. He has been detained since 2006 and is sentenced to 17 years in prison.
The number of Palestinian prisoners infected with coronavirus in the Israeli occupation jails since the outbreak of the pandemic exceeded 290 infections.
