14 Palestinian citizens were injured on Friday in the confrontations that broke out with Israeli forces in the occupied Palestinian territories and the Gaza Strip.
In occupied Jerusalem 5 Palestinian citizens were beaten and sprayed with pepper gas by Israeli forces in the Old City. Other confrontations erupted in the towns of al-Ram and Beit Igza to the north and northwest of Jerusalem respectively.
Nablus province witnessed clashes between the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and Palestinian youths in Beit Furik town where many cases of suffocation by tear gas were reported.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that its crews treated a young man who was shot during the clashes and transferred him to Rafidia hospital in Nablus city.
Another young man was injured in the confrontations of Beit Dajan town to the east of Nablus.
Meanwhile in Qalqilya province 6 injuries were reported 5 of which suffered breathing problems due to gas inhalation after the IOF soldiers quelled Kafr Qaddoum weekly march to the east of Qalqilya. Limited clashes broke out in Azzoun town near Qalqilya city.
Hebrew sources said that an Israeli soldier was injured during the confrontations of Kafr Qaddoum.
Clashes broke out in many places in Bethlehem province and as the Hebrew website 0404 claimed a number of Palestinian youths threw stones at a settlers’ vehicle near Amos settlement but no injuries were reported.
Other confrontations were witnessed in Tuqu’ town and Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem province where tear gas canisters and rubber bullets were fired by Israeli soldiers yet there were no injuries.
In Ni’lin and Bil’in towns to the west of Ramallah city the IOF soldiers fired tear gas canisters at the marchers who went out to support Palestinian prisoners who are suffering vicious attacks by Israeli wardens in Nafha and Negev prisons and to condemn the settlement expansion in the Palestinian territories. A number of injuries were caused and treated in the field.
The protesters including international and Israeli peace activists raised Palestinian flags and portraits of prisoners and demanded their immediate and unconditional release.
Coordinator of the popular committee Abdullah Abu Rahma condemned the repeated raids into prisons which he considered “an additional punishment imposed on Palestinian prisoners.”
The popular committee called for expanding the circle of popular resistance against the Israeli policies including settlement expansion land confiscations and house demolitions.
Coordinator of the popular resistance committee in Bil’in Mohammed Amira said that the Israeli occupation forces fired sound bombs and tear gas canisters at the protesters as they approached the site of the Apartheid Wall south of the village causing a number of suffocation cases among them.
A 16-year-old Palestinian child was shot with live bullets by Israeli soldiers on the borders of the Gaza Strip during the clashes that erupted to the east of al-Bureij camp. The child was taken to a local hospital to receive the necessary treatment.
