15 corona deaths 797 new cases in Palestine

Mai Al-Kailah the Palestinian Minister of Health announced on Tuesday that 15 deaths 797 new infections of coronavirus and 1441 recoveries were recorded in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip after conducting 4086 examinations during the past 24 hours.

Kailah confirmed in the daily epidemiological report of coronavirus that 9 deaths were recorded in the West Bank as follows: Qalqilya 2 Nablus 1 Jenin 2 Tulkarem 2 al-Khalil 1 Bethlehem 1 in addition to 6 deaths in the Gaza Strip.

She stated that the new cases were distributed according to the following: The suburbs of Jerusalem 30 Qalqilya 23 Salfit 22 Nablus 52 Jenin 42 Tulkarem 32 Ramallah and Al-Bireh 88 al-Khalil 50 Tubas 9 Bethlehem 32 Jericho and Al-Aghwar 4 and the Gaza Strip 413.

The new recoveries were recorded as follows: the suburbs of Jerusalem 119 Qalqilya 14 Salfit 11 Nablus 138 Jenin 70 Tulkarem 53 Ramallah and Al-Bireh 165 al-Khalil 82 Tubas 35 Bethlehem 27 Jericho and Al-Aghwar 16 and the Gaza Strip 711 the minister added.

She noted that the recovery rate of coronavirus reached 90.0 percent while the rate of active infections reached 9.0 percent and the death rate was 1.1% of all infections.

Kailah pointed out that there are 92 critically ill patients who have been admitted to intensive care units including 24 who have been placed on ventilators.

In another context the Prisoners and Ex-prisoners Affairs Authority said on Tuesday morning that the administration of Raymond prison closed all its sections after a new infection of the coronavirus was recorded on Monday among prisoners in Section 4.

The Authority stated that the Raymond administration transferred the infected prisoner to Section 8 of the same detention center in which more than 35 prisoners are currently infected with the coronavirus.

The number of prisoners infected with the coronavirus since the beginning of the outbreak reached 191 cases most of which were in Gilboa prison in November 2020 according to the Authority.

The Authority condemned the poor preventive measures inside the occupation prisons and the administrations’ negligence in preserving the safety of the detainees.
