The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) issued 153 administrative detention orders against Palestinian detainees over the past month including 95 renewal of previous orders the Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Committee revealed.
The committee pointed out that 58 prisoners were placed under administrative detention for the first time during June.
Administrative detention is detention without charge or trial. It is based on a secret file that neither the detainee nor his lawyer have access to.
According to the Israeli military orders an administrative detention order can be renewed for unlimited times for a maximum renewable period of six months.
4600 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli jails including 31 women 172 children and 682 administrative detainees.
