1717 Palestinians denied travel via Karama crossing

The Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) prevented during the first half of 2018 nearly 1717 Palestinians from traveling through Karama border crossing the only outlet connecting the West Bank with the outside world through Jordan.

According to a Palestinian report the highest number of blocked passengers was recorded during June where 309 Palestinians were denied travel for unexplained security reasons.

The prevented passengers included university graduates medical patients seeking treatment abroad and several humanitarian cases.

Israel established al-Karama crossing (Allenby) which is 55 kilometers west of Amman following its occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip basically for the travel of West Bank Palestinians.

Another commercial crossing was built called Sheikh Hussein Bridge 90 kilometers north of Amman but it later started to be used for the travel of Israelis foreign tourists and Palestinians of the 1948 occupied territories who have Israeli IDs.
