Mai Al-Kailah the Palestinian Minister of Health announced on Tuesday that 19 deaths and 1149 new infections of the coronavirus were recorded in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank after conducting 4525 examinations during the past 24 hours.
Kailah confirmed in the daily epidemiological report of coronavirus that 13 deaths were recorded in the West Bank as follows: Tulkarem 3 the suburbs of Jerusalem 2 Qalqilya 1 Ramallah 2 Nablus 2 Jenin 1 al-Khalil 1 and Bethlehem 1 in addition to 5 deaths in the Gaza Strip.
She stated that the new infections were distributed according to the following: Tubas 23 Tulkarem 82 the suburbs of Jerusalem 33 Qalqilya 25 Salfit 21 Ramallah 161 Nablus 82 Jenin 65 al-Khalil 61 Bethlehem 43 Jericho 11 and the Gaza Strip 542.
2155 new recoveries were recorded as follows: Tubas 12 Tulkarem 51 the suburbs of Jerusalem 248 Qalqilya 24 Salfit 41 Ramallah 229 Nablus 366 Jenin 129 al-Khalil 173 Bethlehem 72 Jericho 15 and the Gaza Strip 795 Kailah added.
The minister noted that the recovery rate of coronavirus reached 84.2 percent while the rate of active infections reached 14.9 percent and the death rate was 1.0% of all infections.
Kailah pointed out that there are 127 critically ill patients who have been admitted to intensive care units including 30 who have been placed on ventilators.
The minister said meanwhile that the Epidemiological Committee had submitted a recommendation to the Prime Minister and the Supreme Emergency Committee to renew the imposed measures for another two weeks to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
Kailah underlined in an interview with Voice of Palestine Radio that positive results have been achieved as a result of government measures during the past two weeks.
She called on citizens to go to hospitals if they showed severe symptoms stressing that a number of patients come to hospitals in a very bad condition as a result of their delay in seeking health care.
Regarding the coronavirus vaccine she confirmed that the government and the Ministry wrote to the four companies specialized in producing the vaccine and were recommended by the World Health Organization in addition to 3 other factories that have become advanced in manufacturing the vaccines. They will have a clear reply soon and a comprehensive plan to distribute the vaccine as some cadres from the Ministry of Health started to learn how to give the vaccine.
