19th Palestinians in Europe Conference to kick off today

The 19th Palestinians in Europe Conference is slated to kick off today afternoon September 25 2021 in the Danish capital Copenhagen according to its organizers.

As a precautionary measure against COVID-19 the conference will be held through a virtual meeting platform under the theme “Jerusalem unites us till we return” according to head of the annual event Ameen Abu Rashed.

Prominent Palestinian figures will be delivering keynote speeches at the conference most notably Ahmed Bahr acting speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council Munir Shafiq secretary-general of the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad Salman Abu Sitta chairman of the Palestine Land Society and Fadwa al-Barghouthi wife of prisoner Marwan al-Barghouthi—a popular Palestinian politician.

With the participation of academics researchers and media figures three symposiums will be held at the conference under the titles: “The Role of Palestinians in Europe in Preserving the Identity and Supporting the Cause” “the Palestinian Institutional Work in Europe – Examples and Prospects” “the Occupation’s Violations in Jerusalem and the Risks of Displacement and Judaization.”

Noted Palestinian figures from the occupied territories and abroad Arab and foreign activists and dignitaries and European lawmakers are also expected to participate in the conference Abu Rashed said.

He urged the Palestinian citizens at home and abroad to follow the annual event through different media and online platforms stressing that the conference would address important national issues.

The Palestinians in Europe Conference which is also considered a Europe-based Palestinian organization is a major event in Europe and has been running successively for 18 years. It has successfully bonded thousands of Palestinians to their national cause and their right of return.

The conference was held for the first time in London in 2003 and then followed by conferences in Berlin Vienna Malmo Rotterdam Copenhagen Paris and others.
