2 Gaza fishermen arrested by Israeli navy boat attacked with gunfire

Thursday 11-October-2018

Israeli occupation navy on Thursday morning arrested two Palestinian fishermen after they opened heavy machinegun fire on their vessel off Gaza’s northern shore.

Head of the Fishermen’s Committees Zakaria Baker said Israeli navy arrested Sadam al-Sultan 24 and his brother Udai 22 before they dragged them to an unknown destination.

The occupation navy targeted the fishing vessel with randomly-discharged gunshots resulting in material damage.

The Mezan Center for Human Rights kept record of 232 violations perpetrated by the Israeli forces against fishermen in the Gaza Strip since the start of 2018.

The Israeli navy routinely attacks fishermen sailing within the authorized nautical miles in a violation of the ceasefire accord struck in the wake of the 2014 Israeli offensive on the besieged enclave.
