The Israeli navy on Tuesday morning arrested two Palestinian fishermen and seized their boat as they set sail off Gaza’s northern shore.
Head of the Fishermen’s Union Nizar Ayyash said Israeli gunboats chased down a Palestinian fishing vessel off Beit Lahia’s seashore north of the blockaded Gaza Strip and arrested two fishermen.
The arrestees were identified as Awad Sultan and Ahmad Seyam. The vessel was confiscated by the occupation navy.
The fishermen were reportedly navigating within the three-nautical-mile zone though the Israeli occupation authorities green-lighted fishing within six nautical miles.
The Mezan Center for Human Rights kept record of 232 violations by the Israeli navy against Palestinian fishermen since the start of 2018.
