2 corona deaths 4548 new cases in Palestine within 24 hours

The Palestinian health ministry reported on Thursday two new deaths associated with COVID-19 (coronavirus) 4548 new positive tests and 797 recoveries in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip during the last 24 hours.

According to the ministry’s daily report the two victims who died of the virus are from the West Bank.

Moreover 64 critically ill COVID-19 patients are being treated in intensive care units and 18 of them have been placed on ventilators.

An additional 120 patients are also receiving medical care in hospitals and special COVID-19 treatment centers in the West Bank.

93.3 percent of the total cases have recovered from the disease while the rate of active cases has reached 5.7 percent and the rate of deaths is 1.0 percent of the total cases according to data updated today by the ministry.

In a related context senior health official Mahdi Rashed warned that there are expectations that the current corona wave in Palestine could reach its peak in the coming days.

Rashed director of health affairs in Ramallah pointed out that the number of the citizens who tested positive for corona was very large in recent days adding that the health ministry had already warned of such upsurge in COVID-19 cases.

He said that the citizens’ failure to abide by anti-corona measures and take vaccinations was behind the current spike in infections.
