The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah announced on Saturday that 23 deaths 1319 new cases of the coronavirus and 2037 recoveries were recorded during the past 24 hours.
The ministry confirmed in the daily epidemiological report of coronavirus that 17 deaths were recorded in the West Bank: al-Khalil 5 Qalqilya 1 Jericho and Al-Aghwar 1 Nablus 2 Jenin 2 Ramallah and Al-Bireh 1 Bethlehem 2 and Tulkarem 3 in addition to 3 deaths in the Gaza Strip and 3 deaths in Jerusalem.
It stated that the new infections were distributed as follows: al-Khalil 114 Qalqilya 39 Jericho and Al-Aghwar 10 Nablus 86 the suburbs of Jerusalem 12 Jenin 27 Ramallah and Al-Bireh 102 Bethlehem 41 Salfit 13 Tubas 17 Tulkarem 33 the Gaza Strip 605 and Jerusalem 120.
The recovery rate of the coronavirus reached 89.6 percent while the rate of active infections reached 9.3 percent and the death rate was 1.1% of all infections the ministry added.
The ministry pointed out that there are 197 critically ill patients who have been admitted to intensive care units including 63 who have been placed on ventilators.
Regarding the vaccination campaign the total number of people who received the corona vaccine in the West Bank and Gaza Strip reached 70661 including 6558 who received the two doses of the vaccine.
For her part Mai Al-Kailah the Palestinian Minister of Health said that 100000 doses of the Chinese “Sinovac” vaccine and 25000 doses of the British AstraZeneca vaccine will arrive in Palestine within days.
Kailah explained that the doses of the “Sinovac” vaccine were donated by the Chinese government. The AstraZeneca vaccines would be the first batch to arrive which the Palestinian government bought from the vaccine manufacturers.
She underlined that the government has allocated $ 12 million from the public Treasury to purchase corona vaccines.
