25000 Muslims perform Friday prayer in al-Aqsa

Friday 4-August-2017

Over 25000 Palestinians performed Friday prayer in al-Aqsa Mosque amid Israeli tightened security measures.

Preacher of al-Aqsa Mosque Sheikh Mohammad Salim condemned in his Friday sermon the passive positions of some of the Arab and Muslim countries towards the issue of Occupied Jerusalem. He highlighted that the holy city and al-Aqsa Mosque are under the threat of Israeli Judaization plans.

Sheikh Salim said that “Al-Aqsa Mosque is for Muslims only and the Islamic Awkaf (endowment) department is the only authority that has the right of sovereignty over the holy site”. It is a holy place for worship. No one has the right to ban any Muslim regardless of age and gender from entering the holy shrine” he said.

He also called on Palestinians to adhere to national unity in order to be able to defend the Muslims’ sacred places and hailed the Jerusalemite people who forced Israeli police to remove metal detectors and security cameras from the gates of al-Aqsa Mosque in the past few days.

A peaceful march kicked off after Friday prayer in which participants demanded support and solidarity with the holy site.
