26 Palestinians stranded at the Cairo International Airport were allowed access into the blockaded Gaza Strip late on Wednesday evening.
According to local sources the stranded Palestinians were moved to the Egyptian hall in anticipation of their entry into the besieged Gaza Strip through Rafah border-crossing.
The transfer of passengers was carried out at the same time as Rafah crossing was opened to give a Hamas delegation led by Ismail Haneyya access into Gaza following a round of meetings with Cairo officials.
Meanwhile the Palestine Embassy in Cairo said it has made serious efforts to allow Palestinians stuck at Cairo Airport for over a week’s time to enter Gaza adding that it will keep up its efforts to allow all those stranded in Cairo to gain access back home.
