The Palestinian health ministry on Saturday reported 27 new deaths associated with COVID-11 (coronavirus) 1784 new positive tests and 1484 recoveries in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip during the last 24 hours.
According to the ministry’s daily report all the new victims who died of the virus are from different areas of the West Bank.
170 critically ill COVID-19 patients are also receiving intensive care in hospitals and 48 of them have been placed on ventilators.
89.2 percent of the total cases have recovered from the disease while the rate of active cases has reached 9.7 percent and the rate of deaths is 1.1 percent of the total cases according to data updated today by the ministry.
In a related context the health ministry in Ramallah has described the pandemic situation in Palestine as very serious and unprecedented as a result of the passive attitude among citizens towards containment measures.
Spokesman for the ministry Kamal ash-Shakhra said in remarks broadcast by a local radio station that the numbers of deaths from coronavirus new cases and hospital admissions have increased.
The spokesman affirmed that the health ministry’s pandemic committee would hold a meeting with other competent committees and health minister Mai al-Kaila to issue strict recommendations to contain the virus.
