“3000 Palestinians out of 8000 cancer patients in the Gaza Strip passed away due to the blockade imposed on the enclave by Israel” the ministry of health in the Gaza Strip stated on Thursday.
“The blockade imposed on the coastal enclave is depriving Gaza’s hospitals of strategic infrastructure projects and its patients of proper treatment. We are trying to manage to treat the patients despite the growing number of population” it explained.
The ministry of health is doing its best to adopt preventive healthcare strategies to prevent cancer respiratory diseases and strokes. The ministry appealed to the world to provide better health services for Gazan patients with cancer and blood diseases.
“15 years of Israeli blockade on Gaza has turned it into a pollution hot spot which threatens the health of Gazans” it underlined.
“Israel deprives Gazan patients of 47 percent of essential medicines 21 percent of medical consumables and 60 percent of laboratory supplies. 40 percent of patients in Gaza are deprived of seeking treatment abroad which resulted in the death of hundreds of patients over the past 15 years” it added.
The ministry organized a tour for human rights institutions and centers in the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital in Gaza which is dedicated to treating cancer patients on Thursday which coincides with the World Health Day.
