3 Palestinian prisoners’ health status seriously deteriorated

Monday 9-February-2015

RAMALLAH (PIC)– Three Palestinian prisoners held in Eshel prison suffered very serious health deterioration and were urgently transferred to hospital.

The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) revealed that Israeli Prison Service (IPS) did not provide the sick prisoners with the appropriate medication in the appropriate time which led to their sharp health deterioration.

The prisoner Taysir Samoudi who was arrested in 1996 and sentenced to 23 years imprisonment suffers from heart arteries disease and disk pains in addition to breathing difficulties. He lost vision in one of his eyes and one of his legs was paralyzed after suffering a massive stroke in 2008.

In his turn the prisoner Said Banna who was detained in 2003 and sentenced to life imprisonment is still suffering from the effects of bladder cancer surgery he underwent three months ago as he did not conduct any medical tests since that date.

Along the same line the detainee Obadeh Ayesh who was detained in August 2014 suffers from sight-threatening problems since birth. His health situation deeply worsened after his detention as he did not receive any medical treatment.
