The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) arrested at dawn Monday 36 Palestinians in predawn raids into different parts of West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.
IOF claimed in a press statement issued early today that 16 “wanted” Palestinians were rounded up for being involved in anti-occupation activities.
According to the statement three arrests were carried out in occupied Jerusalem while another young man was detained west of Jenin.
Three others were arrested in Qalqilia and Ramallah north of West Bank while two arrests were reported south of Bethlehem.
Seven other Palestinians were kidnapped from their houses in al-Khalil to the south of West Bank.
The PIC field reporter affirmed that the IOF carried out a raid and arrest campaign in Bethlehem where two youths were detained from their houses in Duheisheh refugee camp.
Violent clashes broke out following the raids. At least two youths were injured during the confrontations.
Another young man was rounded up from the neighboring town of Doha.
In Occupied Jerusalem at least 18 youths were arrested overnight while rights sources affirmed that the arrests were raised at dawn Monday to reach 25.
The arrests were mainly carried out in al-Tur and Silwan towns.
In Jenin IOF soldiers intensified their presence early today throughout the city and erected a number of checkpoints after unknown persons threw an explosive device at an Israeli military checkpoint in the area.
A 51-year-old man was arrested after IOF violently stormed and searched his house in Yabad town south of the city.
Raids were also reported north of Salfit where four youths were detained.
