4 Palestinian detainees on hunger strike in Israeli jails

Tuesday 30-October-2018

Palestinian detainees Saddam Awad Rezeq Rjoub Kefah Hattab and Khalil Abu Aram have been on open hunger strike for different periods in Israeli jails.

Saddam Awad 28 has been on hunger strike for 16 days in protest at his administrative detention in Negev jail since April 2018.

This is the second hunger strike waged by Awad in 2018 against his detention without charge or trial. A resident of Beit Ummar town in al-Khalil Awad has been arrested several times and spent a total of seven years in Israeli jails.

Rezeq Rjoub 61 who has been detained since 27 November 2017 started a hunger strike three days ago at Raymond jail for the same reason.

Both Khalil Abu Aram and Kefah Hattab launched a hunger strike eight days ago in solidarity with the Palestinian women detained in Hasharon jail who insist for the 55th day in a row on not leaving their cells to take their daily walk in the prison yard in protest at the presence of security cameras in their sections.

Hattab was arrested in 2004 and sentenced to two life imprisonments while Abu Aram was arrested in 2002 and he is serving seven life sentences.
