4 Palestinians injured in IOF quelling of anti-settlement marches

Friday 1-December-2017

Four Palestinians chocked on tear gas on Friday after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) quelled the weekly march of Kafr Qaddum to the east of Qalqilya which demands opening the village’s road that has been blocked for 14 years now.

Popular Resistance Coordinator in Kafr Qaddum Murad Shtewi said that the IOF fired tear gas canisters at the demonstrators causing four suffocation cases that were treated in the field.

Shtewi added that the march was launched in solidarity with the residents of Qusra village in Nablus.

Meanwhile in Ramallah the IOF quelled the Ni’lin anti-settlement demonstration which was organized on Friday to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People and protest the murder of a Palestinian farmer at the hands of Israeli settlers in Qusra village in Nablus.

Member of the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlement in Ni’lin Mohammed Amira said that clashes broke out following Friday prayer in which the IOF soldiers attacked the Palestinian demonstrators with sound bombs and tear gas canisters. A number of protesters suffered suffocation by tear gas and were treated in the field.

The IOF during the morning hours erected a military checkpoint at the eastern entrance to Ni’lin and prevented those having Israeli (blue) IDs from entering the village to participate in the weekly march.

Another anti-settlement and anti-wall march was launched on Friday in Bil’in village in Ramallah with the participation of local residents and foreign peace activists.

Clashes erupted between the marchers who raised Palestinian flags and chanted national slogans calling for resisting the occupation and liberating all prisoners and the IOF soldiers who heavily fired tear gas canisters.
