Mai Al-Kailah the Palestinian Minister of Health announced on Wednesday that 5 deaths and 1391 new cases of the coronavirus were recorded after conducting 8271 examinations during the last 24 hours.
Kailah confirmed in the daily epidemiological report of coronavirus that the new deaths were recorded as follows: al-Khalil 1 Salfit 1 Tulkarem 1 Nablus 1 and the Gaza Strip 1.
She stated that the new infections were distributed according to the following: Qalqilya 68 Bethlehem 189 Tulkarem 86 the suburbs of Jerusalem 92 Salfit 62 Nablus 147 al-Khalil 262 Tubas 21 Ramallah and Al-Bireh 314 Jenin 50 Jericho and Al-Aghwar 16 and the Gaza Strip 84.
The new recoveries were recorded as follows: Qalqilya 12 Bethlehem 83 Tulkarem 26 the suburbs of Jerusalem 124 Salfit 76 Nablus 62 al-Khalil 140 Tubas 5 Ramallah and Al-Bireh 236 Jenin 55 Jericho and Al-Aghwar 17 and the Gaza Strip 202 the minister added.
Kailah pointed out that there are 93 critically ill patients who have been admitted to intensive care units including 23 who have been placed on ventilators.
She noted that the recovery rate of coronavirus reached 92.1 percent while the rate of active infections reached 6.8 percent and the death rate was 1.1% of all infections.
Meanwhile Kailah said that the occupancy rate of ventilators in hospitals has reached 48% which is the highest rate since the beginning of the corona pandemic.
She added that the occupancy rate in hospital beds in the northern West Bank reached 67 percent while in Ramallah Jericho and the suburbs of Jerusalem reached 105 percent and in the south of the West Bank 83%.
The minister called for an urgent meeting for the Emergency Committee at the Ministry of Health to discuss the significant increase in the number of coronavirus infections.
For his part Kamal Al-Shakhra the spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the infections of the COVID-19 British mutation reached 352 while the South Africa mutation was 57.
