Hundreds of Jewish settlers escorted by Israeli soldiers stormed Kifl Haris town north of Salfit last night and performed rituals at the area of ancient shrines.
Local sources said that dozens of settlers entered the town overnight after a large number of Israeli troops were deployed through its streets and on the rooftops of some house.
The Israeli occupation forces also closed entrances to some neighborhoods and prevented local residents from moving in the cordoned area the sources added.
A statement released by the Israeli army said its forces provided protection for 600 Israelis (settlers) during their presence in the town for rituals.
Every once in a while Jewish settlers intentionally enter Palestinian cities and town in order to perform rituals at Islamic shrines and historic sites as a prelude to imposing Israel’s control over the sites.
