RAMALLAH (PIC)– 601 Palestinians incarcerated in the Israeli occupation jail of Gilboa launched distress signals over the pre-planned psycho-physical torture they have been made to endure.
A statement by the prisoners’ committee raised alarm bells over the dire detention circumstances endured by Palestinian detainees at Gilboa lock-up citing medical neglect overcrowding and intimidation as cases in point.
The committee denounced the systematic medical crimes perpetrated by Israeli medics to aggravate the detainees’ aches and dash their hopes.
The brutal mistreatment by Israeli wardens and abrupt break-ins into prison cells by suppressive units and sniffer dogs have made the situation much worse inside the jail.
The committee further cited overcrowding and the acute shortage in clothes blankets and food items at the Gilboa lock-up.
The committee urged all humanitarian and relief institutions both nationwide and oversees to stand up for Palestinians prisoners’ rights internationalize their cause and pressure the Israeli occupation to cease infringements of their basic human rights including the right to live in dignity.
In a related development the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said the Israeli intelligence renewed the solitary confinement of prisoner Mussa Sufan jailed for two years and a half for six more months on allegations of a security file.
PPS added that the Israeli prison authorities have been forcing prisoner Sufan to sign a visit-ban slapped on him every three months.
Cancer-stricken Sufan has been denied the right to undergo an urgent surgery to remove a neck tumor. He has increasingly been diagnosed with several critical diseases including disc troubles and stomach disorders.
Sufan 41 was detained in 2003 and sentenced to life and 12 years in jail.
