62-year-old Palestinian on hunger strike for 16th day in Israeli jail

Saturday 10-November-2018

Palestinian detainee Rizq al-Rajoub aged 62 has been on an open-ended hunger strike for 16 consecutive days protesting arbitrary detention in Israeli lock-ups.

Prisoner AlRajoub started his hunger strike after the Israeli occupation authorities renewed his administrative sentence with neither charge nor trial.

Ever since he was arrested on December 6 2017 al-Rahjoub has had his detention renewed systematically without charge or trial.

Over recent months Rajoub a native of al-Khalil’s town of Dura in the southern occupied West Bank started similar hunger strikes which he suspended following promises to end his administrative detention. However none of such pledges has been made true by the Israeli prison authorities.

Prisoner Rajoub had previously been locked up for a total of 23 years in Israeli jails including 10 years in administrative detention. He continues to suffer from severe pains in his gall bladder and colon. He has also been diagnosed with skin diseases.
