7 Palestinian prisoners continue hunger strike in Israeli prisons

Tuesday 1-November-2016

Seven Palestinian prisoners continued their open hunger strike in Israeli prisons on Tuesday in protest against their illegal administrative detention.

Administrative detention is a procedure that allows the Israeli military to hold prisoners indefinitely on secret information without charging them or allowing them to stand trial.

The seven hunger strikers include Anas Shadid Ahmed Abu Fara Mus’ab Manasra Majed Abu Shamla Hassan Rabayaa Samer Issawi and Munther Sanawbar.

Issawi from occupied Jerusalem and Sanawbar from Nablus were forgoing food to demand an end to the mistreatment of Palestinian female prisoners and allowing doctors’ visits to Palestinian sick prisoners.

Their demands also include the removal of a security ban on a number of prisoners’ family visits.

Scores of Palestinian prisoners have launched hunger strikes to protest administrative detention or the conditions of their incarceration.
