7 activists arrested as PA-Israel security coordination hits zenith

Saturday 28-January-2017

At least seven Palestinian citizens were arrested by the Palestinian Authority (PA) forces in the occupied West Bank over the past few days.

According to the Umama Information Center on Saturday the PA Preventive Security Forces in Nablus arrested the activist Nabeel Ahmad Jawda after they summoned him to questioning on Friday morning at the same time as they have kept Qablan mayor Ali al-Azaar in custody for the third consecutive day after he was summoned to interrogation last Tuesday.

Palestinian student Hamam Fatash enrolled at An-Najah University has also been locked up in a PA detention center in Nablus for 40 days running. Hamam was reportedly about to graduate when he was arrested.

Meanwhile the Tulkarem-based PA Preventive Security Forces arrested the Palestinian ex-prisoner Sheikh Nadhir Nassar after they summoned him to questioning on Friday. Sheikh Nadhir was released from PA lock-ups just a few days ago.

Some three days earlier activist Raed Taha and his 17-year-old son Shady were arrested by the PA forces in Tulkarem. Shady’s remand was extended for 15 days while his father started an open-ended hunger strike in protest at their arbitrary detention.

Student activist Moomen Sultan Malah has also been held in PA custody for 15 days in a row.

Recently two activists—Nidhal Abu Malash and Dr. Alaa Amr—were arrested by the PA in Yatta and Dura in the southern occupied West Bank province of al-Khalil.
