9 corona deaths 264 new cases in Palestine within 24 hours

The Palestinian health ministry on Sunday reported nine new deaths associated with COVID-19 (coronavirus) 264 new positive tests and 201 recoveries in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip during the last 24 hours.

According to the ministry’s daily report five of the victims who died of the virus are from the West Bank and four others from Gaza.

Moreover 58 critically ill COVID-19 patients are being treated in intensive care units and 22 of them have been placed on ventilators.

An additional 105 patients are also receiving medical care in hospitals and special COVID-19 treatment centers in the West Bank.

98.2 percent of the total cases have recovered from the disease while the rate of active cases has reached 0.8 percent and the rate of deaths is 1.0 percent of the total cases according to data updated today by the ministry.

In a related context the Palestinian health ministry on Sunday announced that 49 new cases of the recently discovered coronavirus variant called Omicron were reported in different areas of the West Bank.

A spokesperson for the ministry said that the total number of Omicron cases in Palestine climbed to 291 patients.

The spokesperson urged the citizens to go to vaccination centers across the occupied territories to take anti-coronavirus shots to protect themselves and their families and to abide by safety and preventive measures.
