A historic fan club of the Italian football team AS Roma known as Fedayn asked their team not to play a football match against the English team Tottenham scheduled on July 30 in Haifa Israel.
A large banner appeared outside the Trigoria Sports Complex used by the Roma football club as a training ground which read: “In an occupying state there can be no ‘friendly’ matches”.
Fedayn is named after Palestinian freedom fighters who fought against Israeli Zionist colonialism.
However the AS Roma director said that the friendly match was important to his club in preparation for the new season adding that playing in Haifa would be a new experience that his club wanted to experience.
