Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday met with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan before the emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to discuss U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The two presidents discussed the ongoing events in the occupied city of Jerusalem and possible action needed to salvage the situation.
Abbas arrived in Istanbul this evening to take part in the emergency summit of the OIC which will be held on Wednesday in the presence of 57 world leaders and members in the organization.
He will deliver a speech at the summit and will hold meetings on the sidelines.
Abbas is accompanied by Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riad al-Malki Presidential Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina member of Fatah Central Committee Hussein al-Sheikh and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Turkey Fayed Mustafa among others.
