Abbas bans mutiny trend leaders who fled Gaza from entering the Muqata’a

Friday 6-July-2007

RAMALLAH (PIC)– PA President Mahmoud Abbas has ordered leaders of Fatah and Security agencies  who fled the Gaza Strip be banned from entering the Muqata’a which is the main PA government building in Ramallah.

A source in Abbas’s office said that strict orders were issued to the guards of the Muqata’a to stop those who failed in confronting Hamas in Gaza from entering the government building.

The source said that Abbas asked all Gaza runaways who include prominent figures to remain in their hotel in Ramallah and a number of them were severely chastised sworn at and badly humiliated.

The PIC correspondent has also learnt that a high ranking security officer was stripped by Abbas of his rank and was being held at a hotel in Ramallah. The concerned officer contacted a friend in Gaza asking that friend to find a way for him to return to Gaza and  asked him to contact Hamas to ask them for forgiveness for what he did in Gaza.

The Gaza runaways are having a very difficult time in the West Bank as they are subjected to humiliation by Abbas’s advisors and people in the West Bank would not deal with them after what they have caused in Gaza.

A number of runaways did not expect Hamas to grant them amnesty after all they had done but having seen how Hamas behaved after taking control of the Gaza Strip they are regretting the fact that they fled the Strip and are expressing desire to return there.

Hamas for its part said that the amnesty is still valid for those who wish to return and not engage in any new criminal activities.
