Abbas calls Haneyya both agree on holding on to Makkah agreement

Tuesday 20-February-2007

GAZA (PIC)– PA chief Mahmoud Abbas on Monday night phoned Ismail Haneyya the PA premier-designate and briefed him on results of the tripartite meeting in occupied Jerusalem earlier Monday.

A statement by the council of ministers said that Haneyya also briefed Abbas on his consultations regarding the formation of the national unity government.

They agreed on proceeding with implementation of the Makkah agreement and on protecting the joint Palestinian will according to the statement.

Abbas last Thursday assigned Haneyya to form the new Palestinian national unity government as agreed upon in the Makkah agreement.

The PA government and the Hamas Movement declared their full backing of Abbas in face of USA and Israel pressures to abandon the agreement.
