GAZA (PIC)– Three PA officials have been dispatched to Syria by PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to incite it not to host a national conference of Palestinian resistance factions calling for adherence to the constants of the Palestinian cause and opposing the autumn conference to be held next month in the USA.
One of the dispatched delegates Saleh Ra’fat stated that the PA delegation is going to meet with Syrian officials to urge them not to host this conference in Damascus alleging that this conference deepens the inter-Palestinian division and harms the Arab efforts aimed at ending the crisis and separation of the West Bank from the Gaza Strip.
For their part Hamas along with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the Islamic Jihad movement considered the negative position of the Fatah central committee towards the conference of Palestinian factions an attempt to distract the Palestinian arena from the risks that would result from the autumn conference.
The participating factions also underlined that the conference in Damascus will be held in order to confirm the Palestinian people’s adherence to the constants of the Palestinian cause and to oppose the autumn conference which will waive the Palestinian inalienable constants and rights.
In a press release received by the PIC Hamas expressed surprise at the position of the Fatah central committee describing this position as a reproduction of the American president’s way of thinking and a fierce campaign to libel the patriotism of everyone in opposition to their opinion.
Hamas highlighted that the participating Palestinian factions have made enormous sacrifices for the Palestinian cause much more than the small sacrifices of those who are striving for the autumn conference and this gives them the right to take national decisions.
