Abdul-Qader: PA’s interest in protecting J’lem real estate waned

Friday 30-November-2018

Senior Fatah official Hatem Abdul-Qader has asserted that the current Palestinian Authority (PA) leadership’s interest in preventing the sale of Palestinian real estate in Occupied Jerusalem to Jewish parties has declined considerably after the death of president Yasser Arafat.

In press remarks Abdul-Qader pointed out that the former PA leadership had established a special fund to buy Palestinian real estate whose owners wanted to sell in Jerusalem but after Arafat’s passing the new leadership did not give much attention to the purchase and protection of Jerusalemite properties.

He stressed the need to revive the fund or establish a new alternative supported by Arab parties to purchase such real estate to protect them against being sold directly or indirectly to Jewish settlers or groups.
