Abu Daqqa: Talks with Egypt humanitarian not political

Saturday 19-August-2017

Member of the central committee of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) Esam Abu Daqqa said on Saturday that the current talks with Egypt are concerned with humanitarian issues not political and aimed at saving Gaza from the crisis it is going through.

In an exclusive interview with the PIC Abu Daqqa scotched the rumors that the understandings with Egypt will entrench the internal division adding that the ongoing talks focus only on the difficult economic social and humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip resulting mainly from the decade-long blockade.

Abu Daqqa who is a member of the Palestinian delegation sent to Egypt affirmed that there is a Palestinian consensus on the importance of the unity of the national project with its geographical and political components. “There will be no Palestinian state in Gaza and no state without it” he said.

He stressed the need for all parties to unite and back the local and regional efforts exerted to help the Palestinian people in Gaza and provide the basic needs for them away from political rivalries.

Ha called on all parties to abide by the reconciliation agreements as well as the outcomes of the meetings of the Palestinian National Council’s preparatory committee.

The DFLP leader also called for expediting the dissolution of the Gaza government administrative committee enabling the Ramallah-based government to assume its responsibilities toward the Palestinian people in Gaza and holding presidential and legislative elections in which all factions participate.
