Abu Kuweik calls for escalating resistance against Israeli occupation

Monday 29-November-2021

Senior Hamas official Hussein Abu Kuweik has called for escalating resistance in all the Palestinian areas across the West Bank and Jerusalem in response to Israeli president Isaac Herzog’s desecration of the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil City on Sunday.

In press remarks Abu Kuweik condemned Herzog’s visit to the Ibrahimi Mosque as “another attempt to Judaize it” and “a heinous crime and a frenzied war against our religion and holy sites.”

He also urged the Palestinian citizens and the national figures in the West Bank and the 1948 occupied territory to flock to the Ibrahimi Mosque and frequent it for prayers.

The Hamas official accused the Israeli occupation state of taking advantage of its normalized ties with some Arab governments and its growing security cooperation with the Palestinian Authority to commit more crimes and violations against the Palestinian people their holy sites and land.

Herzog on Sunday night defiled the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil and took part in a candle-lighting ceremony marking the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.

Herzog traveled to the occupied city of al-Khalil in the company of other Jewish settlers a move that was seen as a deliberate attempt to provoke Palestinians.
