Abu Marzook urges more Palestinian efforts to collectively break the siege

Saturday 12-May-2007

DAMASCUS (PIC)– Dr. Mousa Abu Marzook the prominent Hamas’ senior leader and deputy-head of its political bureau has called on Palestinian resistance factions and political parties to join hands and to consolidate their ranks in order to collectively break the unjust economic blockade on the Palestinian people.

In an exclusive statement he made to the PIC on Friday Abu Marzook charged that there were “unwarranted” accusations against Hamas Movement and deliberate attempts to defame it explaining that such acts “weren’t suitable with the prevailing atmosphere of national unity”.

He also urged Palestinian factions to respect the Makkah agreement and to help cooperate in arranging the Palestinian internal home pointing out that meetings held between Hamas and Fatah Movements in Cairo and in Gaza have urged the immediate halt of such “black propaganda”.

Furthermore the Hamas’ leader indicated that PA chief Mahmoud Abbas has pledged to give PA interior minister Hani Al-Kawasmi the authority he needs in order to carry out the ministry’s security plan.

Describing the Palestinian people as “brave” Abu Marzook asserted that Israeli threats to sweep Gaza Strip weren’t frightening the Palestinian people that according to him will block any IOF invasion to the Strip and turn it into a disastrous adventure for the IOF troops.

Nevertheless Abu Marzook expressed a mode of disappointment over the lukewarm Arab moves in carrying out their pledges to rescind the economic sanctions and to resume financial aid to the penniless Palestinian people.

In addition Abu Marzook asserted that the EU stands on the sanctions hadn’t recorded any tangible translation on the ground although a number of EU countries declared support to the PA unity government.

Moreover the Hamas senior official urged Palestinian factions especially Fatah to speed up the restructuring of the PLO on new and firm basis describing steps taken in this regard so far as “very slow”.

A number of Palestinian resistance factions including Hamas Movement that represents more than a half of the Palestinian people inside occupied Palestine aren’t represented in the PLO which is supposed to be the “only legitimate representative of the Palestinian people”.
