Hamas political bureau member Dr. Mousa Abu Marzouk said that a federation to end the division between Hamas and Fatah was not tabled nor dealt with.
Abu Marzouk said in a statement on Monday evening that Hamas is determined on ending the internal Palestinian split and achieving social peace. He stressed meanwhile that “there will be no state without Gaza and there will be no state in Gaza”.
Abu Marzouk however said “The federation might be a possible solution and it is better than division anyway.”
In another context Hamas regarded the statement of Azzam al-Ahmad to be politically incorrect as it reflects bad intentions regarding the reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah.
Abdul-Latif al-Qanou Hamas spokesman said that the statement came as a surprise since it came after Hamas attended Fatah’s seventh conference.
Al-Qanou asked Fatah to end such practice especially that it adversely affects any effort for reconciliation.
Azzam al-Ahmad said that Hamas would not be included in the PLO before achieving reconciliation; therefore Fatah executive committee invited the old National Council and Hamas is not part of it.
