Friday 20-January-2017

The reconciliation meeting between Palestinian factions in Moscow culminated in an agreement to boost national unity and prop up Russia’s pro-Palestine position political bureau member of Hamas Moussa Abu Marzouk said Thursday evening.

Speaking in a press statement Abu Marzouk said the meeting discussed Russia’s potential role in supporting the legitimate Palestinian cause and rallying in support of the Palestinians in the face of Israel’s illegal settlement schemes.

The Palestinian factions further spoke out against the explosive fallouts of underway attempts to relocate the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Occupied Jerusalem.

Abu Marzouk slammed the International Quartet of which Russia is a member for contributing in tightening the noose around Palestinians’ neck and for its biased pro-Israel standpoint.

The meeting also stressed the need to combine forces so as to form a consensus government and national institutions representing all Palestinians.

The two-day Moscow conference which kicked off Sunday was hosted by the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences to smooth reconciliation talks between Palestinian national factions in an attempt to overcome the strife and prop up consensus.

The meeting concluded with a statement expressing the need to heal the rift so as to buttress the anti-occupation struggle and make Palestinians’ dream to establish an independent state having Jerusalem as its capital come true.

The concluding statement further called for mobilizing international efforts to restore Palestinians’ right of return to their motherland in line with UN resolution 194.
