Abu Marzouk: Pence’s visit seeks to alter status quo in MENA region

Tuesday 23-January-2018

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to the occupied Palestinian territories and the Middle East comes as part of a U.S. scheme to impose a new fait accompli senior Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzouk said Monday.

“In line with the widespread condemnation Pence’s stopover has sparked we confirm our rejection of his mission to turn the historical status quo upside down” a tweet by Abu Marzouk read.

He said the Palestinians will forever stand on guard to the U.S. and Israeli imperialistic agenda.

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence landed in Israel Sunday evening after spending 36 hours in Egypt and Jordan.

Pence received a full head-of-state welcome. Present at his welcome ceremony were White House Mideast envoy Jason Greenblatt U.S. Ambassador David Friedman and the Israeli ambassador to Washington Ron Dermer.

The Palestinian Authority is boycotting Pence’s visit to the region as are Christian leaders in Israel due to Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and announcement to move the embassy to the holy city.
