Chairman of the General Assembly of the popular conference for Palestinians abroad Salman Abu Sitta called on Tuesday for rebuilding the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and re-electing a new Palestinian National Council (PNC) that represents all Palestinians.
Abu Sitta affirmed in a statement that all memberships in the current PNC have expired because most of the members are dead now and since the last PNC meeting held in a free country was 30 years ago.
In response to remarks by the PNC speaker Salim al-Zanoun in which he attacked the popular conference for Palestinians abroad Abu Sitta said that demanding the election of a new national council every four years is a guaranteed right for Palestinians.
Abu Sitta pointed to the devastating effects of the 1993 Oslo Accord on the PLO and how it turned it into a tool in the hands of Israel.
He invited all Palestinians abroad to join the conference which raises awareness of the rights of the Palestinian people.
