Palestinian lawmaker Mohamed Abu Tir has strongly denounced the Israeli interior minister’s “racist” decision to revoke the permanent residency of three Jerusalemite officials including him and not allow them stay in their native city.
In press remarks MP Abu Tir said it was not unexpected from an occupation regime known for racism to take such decision after it had expelled the entire Palestinian people from their land and usurped their rights.
The lawmaker stressed that such step was part of a systematic Israeli policy aimed at Judaizing Occupied Jerusalem and empty it of its indigenous people.
Israeli interior minister Aryeh Deri decided last Sunday to revoke the residency of MPs Mohammed Abu Tir Ahmad Attoun and Mohammed Toutah as well as that of former minister of Jerusalem affairs Khaled Abu-Arafa at the pretext of their affiliation with Hamas.
The decision came after the Knesset approved legislation in early March allowing the interior minister to strip any Jerusalemite of their residency rights and expel them.
