Administrative detention of two hunger strikers frozen

Saturday 19-November-2016

The Israeli prosecution office on Friday night agreed on freezing the administrative detention of hunger-striking prisoners Anas Shadeed and Ahmed Abu Fara.

Defense lawyer Ahlam Haddad told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that the Israeli military prosecutor had informed her that he recommended suspending the administrative detention orders against Shadeed and Abu Fara in view of the medical reports on their health conditions

Accordingly she said the higher court decided to end the detention of the two internees and to keep the door open for the West Bank regional commander to revoke the verdict.

The lawyer however did not state if the prisoners would end their hunger strike as a result of this development and when they would be released.

Shadeed and Abu Fara from al-Khalil province started their hunger strike two months ago in protest at their detention administratively with no indictment or trial.
