After 111 days Awawda suspends his hunger strike

Tuesday 21-June-2022

Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawda from the village of Idna in al-Khalil has suspended his open hunger strike which lasted 111 days in rejection of his administrative detention.

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Club said in a statement on Tuesday that the prisoner’s suspension of his hunger strike came after promises to end his detention noting that he is suffering from serious symptoms that threaten his health due to his long days of hunger strike.

The Club said Awawda remained steadfast during the 111 days of hunger strike during which he endured all kinds of ill-treatment and persecution to convey his message and that of his fellow administrative detainees.

The Club added “Our battle against the crime of administrative detention is a relentless battle as long as the occupation continues in this policy.”
