Abu Atwan’s family announced on Thursday evening his arrival at the Istishari Hospital in the Al-Rehan suburb of Ramallah after an Israeli court ordered an end to his administrative detention after 65 days of hunger strike.
Abu Atwan 28 in a brief statement hailed the Palestinian people and all the prisoners in the Israeli prisons who supported him during his hunger strike led by his uncle Munif Abu Atwan.
Benazir Abu Atwan’s sister said that his only request during the last days of the strike was to be transferred to a Palestinian hospital as his health condition deteriorated rapidly.
She thanked everyone who contributed to dropping the administrative detention order for her brother the national and Islamic forces and all the Palestinian people.
Hamas Movement confirmed that the victory of the prisoner Ghadanfar Abu Atwan proves once again the ability of the Palestinians to impose their will on the occupier even during the worst circumstances and the occupier’s inability to defeat them.
Hazem Qassem Hamas spokesman said in a statement on Thursday “We congratulate the prisoner Ghadanfar Abu Atwan for his victory over the Zionist jailer.”
For her part Mai Al-Kailah the Palestinian Health Minister confirmed during her participation in the reception that the medical teams began following up on Abu Atwan’s condition and carrying out all the necessary medical examinations.
