GAZA (PIC)– Dr. Mohammed Al-Agha the PA agriculture minister has urged the Arab League (AL) to shoulder its responsibility and obligation towards the Palestinian people and to evaluate Arab fulfillment of AL decisions pertaining to rescinding the unjust economic siege on the Palestinians.
Arab leaders have decided during their summit in the Saudi capital Riyadh to break the economic blockade on the Palestinian people that was preceded by a similar decision taken by the Arab foreign ministers in their meeting in Cairo; yet no concrete steps were taken in this regard leaving the Palestinian people starving and suffering alone.
In addition Agha condemned the incessant IOF troops’ aggressions on the Palestinian farmers in Gaza Strip and the West Bank affirming that such relentless Israeli atrocities prove that the Israeli occupation government wasn’t and still isn’t concerned with achieving peace and stability in the region.
In a statement his ministry issued on Monday and a copy of which was faxed to the PIC Agha asserted “The Israeli occupation government is fabricating pretexts to justify its crimes against the Palestinian people and to portray them as acts of self-defense”.
Hence he highlighted the importance of exposing the IOA practices against the Palestinian people especially the farmers in local and international media inviting local and international human rights and legal institutions to pressure the IOA into halting trespassing rights of the Palestinian farmers.
“The IOF troops denied Palestinian farmers in Gaza Strip and the West Bank access to their farms which are the only source of income for them and their families” Agha furthermore asserted disclosing that a number of Palestinian farmers were shot and wounded with IOF troops’ bullets when they attempted to approach their farms and cultivate them.
The PA minister also stressed the importance of marketing Palestinian agricultural projects rehabilitating the Palestinian agricultural sector and reforming Palestinian farms uprooted by IOF military bulldozers.
In this context Agha pointed out that his ministry was aspiring to achieve a bundle of agrarian reform projects unveiling that the ministry received many promises from foreign parties to help rehabilitate that sector.
