Prisoner Maher Al-Akhras continued his open hunger strike for the 73rd day in the Israeli occupation prisons amid a serious deterioration in his health condition.
The Prisoners Information office stated on its website “Akhras is still in a serious health condition as he is unable to move and speak and stays in bed around the clock.”
It added that he cannot move at all suffers from severe dizziness and headache and is currently feeling pains in his chest as he has had heart problems. He also suffers from poor concentration hearing and significant weight loss.”
Akhras’s wife had confirmed earlier that his condition is very dangerous indicating that he suffers from loss of consciousness from time to time and is unable to move. He suffers from frequent convulsions and sometimes does not distinguish who is standing in front of him.
Prisoner Maher al-Akhras 49 refused to take supplements until his demands to end his administrative detention are accepted.
Akhras prisoner is from Silat al-Dhahr town in Jenin and he is a father of six children the youngest of whom is a 6-year-old girl.
He was arrested several times most recently last July 2020. The occupation authorities ordered his administrative detention which was subsequently suspended due to his strike but he refused to terminate his strike considering that what the authorities call a freeze on administrative detention does not mean the end of his detention.
