Palestinian detainee Maher Al-Akhras from Silat Al-Dhahr town in Jenin continues his open hunger strike for the 99th consecutive day on Monday in Israeli detention amid further worsening of his health condition.
The Prisoners and Ex-prisoners Affairs Authority sent letters to the International Committee of the Red Cross the European Union the United Nations and some international organizations to pressure Israel to end Akhras’s detention.
Hassan Abd Rabbo the media advisor of the Authority said in press statements that the Authority is communicating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to launch a diplomatic campaign to shed light on Akhras’s administrative detention and pressure to end his detention.
Abd Rabbo said that there are increasing concerns about damage to the vital functions of Akhras’s kidneys liver and lungs. Doctors warned of the possibility of a sudden relapse.
Akhras is being held in the Israeli Kaplan Hospital and suffers from severe fatigue and exhaustion. His senses of hearing and speaking have also been affected negatively and he suffers from seizures. Furthermore he suffers from severe pain in all his body blurred vision and severe headache.
